Welcome to the Respite Learning Portal PDF

The Respite Learning Portal is devoted to people who are interested in learning more about the world of respite and those already providing respite support who want to access more training, information,  and to share ideas  and resources.

The on-line poll is one way inwhich the Respite Learning Portal is trying to make this the site of choice for respite training and information. Participants are invited to vote on training topics.

In Ontario there is a respite registry for respite providers, workers, contractors. To become part of the registry to look for work or connect with families who are searching for respite workers go to www.respiteservices.com

Please note: you must go through a screening process to be listed in the registry. There is a minimum screening criteria however it will vary from agency to agency e.g. some areas conduct a test or in person orientation all agencies conduct a vulnerable persons check with the OPP and RCMP.

Take 6:43 minutes to watch this motivation u-tube video. You'll know if respite is the choice for you.

The Respite Portal is interested in hearing your respite stories.

Tell us why you chose to be a respite provider and how long you have been providing the service of respite care.

Sharing stories is our way of letting others know what respite means to families.

You may influence someone to become a respite provider.

You are also eligible to win a $25 gift certificate for Tim Hortons or Starbucks.

Most importantly you are sharing your story of respite and how it impacts both you the provider of care and the receipient!
